The Proposal

Over these almost 30 years, the NGO has sought actions that can contribute to improving people’s living conditions, promoting citizenship and generating income. Both of the proposed courses have as their main objective the generation of income and self-sustainability not only gives us our entity, but also the people participating, especially those on the fringes of society, as job scarcity and opportunities for young people and women remain alarming. That is the reason for the partnership with the social groups assisted by the Municipal Secretariat of Social Assistance. We believe that the consolidation of the work we have done at Cenep contributes significantly to the market growth not only of handicrafts, but also of the therapeutic workforce in the region, as therapies are increasingly gaining ground. In addition, both proposals aim, in addition to creatively and consciously generating income, to give visibility to local knowledge, to expand PICs to other municipalities, to awaken to a low-cost alternative and natural health vision accessible to most of the population, as well as the appreciation of the region’s abundant raw materials. The promotion of the two proposals aims to consequently generate more quality of life, valuing the preservation of the environment, the local culture and awakening the market potential and income generation.

Background

Cenep emerged in 1990 from the need to defend and guarantee social rights for the public in a state of social vulnerability. Therefore, throughout its history the project has been concerned to meet the different demands and groups, seeking to care and value the human being in an integral way, developing activities that meet their cultures, traditions and customs. Its mission is to foster actions that contribute to the improvement of living conditions, the promotion of citizenship and the construction of an ethical posture among the assisted ones, especially those from marginalized social classes. Thus, it operates in four main areas: education, healthcare, culture and environment, themes that guide the projects and activities developed by Cenep. The projects currently in operation are: In the area of education, we have the Projeto Livro em Roda Library Project , which assists with reading about one thousand children and adolescents from public schools, the Cinema at School Project and the Meditation at School Project, in partnership with the Municipal Secretariat of Education; In the field of health and environment, we developed the Integrative and Complementary Practices Project (PICs) , serving about 150 people a month, and producing herbal medicines. We also offer courses, lectures, conversation circles, meetings, with themes focused on the areas of health and environmental preservation, in addition to the development of the Florais Florsol Project , a floral system found in our own region; As far as culture is concerned, we work with the Municipal Secretariat of Social Assistance providing weekly Ballet, Cinema and Theater Workshops

How It Works

The project will run weekly and monthly simultaneously. Each week there will be a Craft Course , which lasts 3 hours per week for a period of 3 months, with a limited number of places for participants, and will be taught by a professional craftsman. At the end, an exhibition of the products will be made. Each month we will take the Naturology Course , structured in 10 monthly modules in order to train new therapists, each month being dedicated to a different type of therapy. In total, 10 different types of therapeutic practices will be taught by professionals from each specific area. The therapies planned to make up the course are Florsol Florals, Massage Therapy, Cupping Therapy, Auriculotherapy, Aromatherapy, Reiki, Stone Healing, Meditation, Water Benefits and Healthy Eating. For the completion and quality of this course, it will be necessary to purchase a projector.
